Sridhar Ramaswamy, senior vice president of advertising and commerce at Google, will present the first in a series of lectures sponsored by the Department of Computer Science. The series features leaders in information technology. Ramaswamy, who earned his Ph.D. at Brown, will speak at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, in the Center for Information Technology, Room 368.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] — Sridhar Ramaswamy, senior vice president of advertising and commerce at Google and a Brown alumnus, will return to campus to give a lecture on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 4 p.m. in the Center for Information Technology, Room 368. The lecture is part of a new series of talks by information technology leaders sponsored by the Department of Computer Science.

Ramaswamy earned his Ph.D. from Brown under the late professor Paris Kanellakis. After graduating, he worked as an engineer at Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies, and Bell Communications Research (Bellcore). For four years he worked as director of engineering at the start-up E.piphany, before joining Google in 2003. As vice president, he oversees the company’s advertising and commerce products, including AdWords, display advertising, analytics, shopping, and payments.
