Brown University administrative offices and operations will be closed Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, due to predicted heavy snowfall and extremely low temperatures.
The following message was delivered electronically to the University community Thursday evening:
Dear Brown Community Members,
We have been closely monitoring weather conditions for the winter storm that is intensifying and will continue overnight and tomorrow morning. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning through 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2014, indicating heavy snowfall and extremely cold temperatures. All members of the community should pay close attention to weather forecasts and to guidance from University and government officials and take appropriate precautions.
Travel will be difficult overnight and during the day tomorrow and officials are requesting that motorists stay off the roads unless travel is essential. Accordingly, Brown University administrative offices and operations will be closed for all non-essential employees on Friday, January 3, 2014. Also, the daytime shuttle service will not be available.
