PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] — Providence Mayor Angel Taveras will join other local experts and leaders in Latino politics for the 2013 Thomas J. Anton/Frederick Lippitt Conference on Urban Affairs at Brown University Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at 4 p.m. in List Art Center, 64 College St.
This year’s conference, titled “Latino Mayors: Politics and Policy in the City,” will open with a keynote address and question and answer session by Taveras. Following the address, local political leaders and experts will take part in a panel discussion. Panelists include Tony Affigne, professor of political science at Providence College; James Diossa, mayor of Central Falls; Doris De Los Santos, past president of the Rhode Island Latino Civic Fund and the Rhode Island Latino Political Action Committee; and Pablo Rodriguez, president of Latino Public Radio.
Hosted by the Taubman Center for Public Policy and American Institutions, event is free and open to the public.
Funded by a gift from Frederick Lippitt in honor of the Taubman Center’s founding director, Thomas J. Anton, this annual conference commemorates nearly two decades of cooperative work by Lippitt and Anton on citywide issues in Providence.
