PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] — In an effort to encourage members of the campus community to shop at local retailers during the holiday season, Brown is hosting “Brown Shops Local!” on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, offering free shuttle service for faculty, students, and staff from the Brown campus to the Hope Street, Wayland Square, and Westminster Street/South Main Street shopping areas throughout the evening.
The event will run in conjunction with the City of Providence's “Buy Providence/Buy Art” campaign, which kicks off that evening at Craftland on Westminster Street.
Additionally, both the Hope Street and South Main Street areas will be having their annual holiday strolls the evening of Dec. 6, with retailers offering special promotions, treats, and family-friendly activities throughout the evening.
