Brown will host the National Dominican Student Conference (NDSC) April 6-8, 2012. The NDSC is an annual conference that brings together Dominican college students and alumni from throughout the United States. Each year the NDSC Board undergoes a selection process in which it accepts bids from potential host schools and selects where the next NDSC will be held. This year’s conference panelists include Marco Antonio Davis, deputy director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics; Ramona E. Romero, general counsel of the U.S. Department of Agriculture; and Alicia Anabel Santos, Latina writer, playwright, and producer. The keynote address will be given by Junot Diaz, author of Drown and The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, and recipient of numerous literary awards.
