Marie Myung-Ok Lee, a visiting lecturer in race and ethnicity, was awarded a fellowship by the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA). Myung-Ok Lee will be among 25 fellows focusing on creative projects at this working retreat for visual artists, writers and composers. The VCCA is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in rural Virigina. A typical residency ranges from two weeks to two months. Serving more than 350 artists a year, the VCCA is one of the nation's largest year-round artist communities, and fellows have been recognized for their work through various awards and accolades, including MacArthur Grants, Pulitzer Prizes, and Guggenheim fellowships.
