Last year Amy Nunn, assistant professor of medicine (research), helped lead a coalition of dozens of black churches and mosques in Philadelphia to encourage HIV testing and prevention. Her work to stem the epidemic and de-stigmatize the virus now has the support of Estee Lauder’s M•A•C brand of cosmetics, which has provided Nunn $100,000 to expand the work. The charity is supported by sales of VIVA GLAM lipstick, currently marketed by the pop star Lady Gaga. Nunn said the funding will help her target media outreach in areas of the city that have a high incidence of infection but are also medically underserved.
