Several Brown University veterans will take part in a Commencement Forum panel discussion titled "The Vietnam War: Our Veterans' Stories." Despite divergent reasons for serving in the Vietnam war, Brown Vietnam veterans will tell engaging stories about the war that changed their lives forever. Visitors will also get the oppportunity to learn about the Brown Vietnam Veterans Archive and website, which features flight jackets, commissioning photos, military documents and love letters. Nonfiction Writing Program co-director Beth Taylor will moderate the discussion. Panelists include David Taylor, a 1966 graduate and former Capt. in the U.S. Marines from 1966-1971; Barry Kowalski, a 1966 graduate and 1st Lt. in the U.S. Marines from 1966-1970; Elaine Zimmer Davis, widow of 1966 graduate and U.S. Marines Capt. Jerry Zimmer; Augustus A. White III, a 1957 graduate, Capt. in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1967, and professor emeritus of orthopaedic surgery at Harvard Medical School. The discussion is sponsored by the Brown University Library, Brown Alumni Association and the Nonfiction Writing Program in the Department of English.
