Melani Cammett, associate professor of political science, has been awarded a New Directions Fellowship by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Cammett will use the award to complete public health coursework so that she can begin a research project that will examine Islamist provision of medical services and how those services might affect the political behavior and attitudes of individuals and their families. The New Directions Fellowship is given annually to assist faculty in the humanities who seek to acquire systematic training outside their own areas of special interest. Institutions are invited to participate in the program and are asked to solicit proposals from eligible faculty members.
