Members of the Brown and Rhode Island communities who have served in the U.S. military or other nations were honored during Veterans Day ceremonies, Monday, Nov. 12, 2012.  Sen. Jack Reed, Lt. Comdr. James Gardner ’65, graduate student veteran Christopher Baker ’09, Sc.M. ’10, Dean of the College Katherine Bergeron, and Brown University Chaplain the Rev. Janet Cooper Nelson spoke. The event was dedicated to Lt. Charles F. Kenney, a member of the Class of 2010 who served in the U.S. Marine Corps and died in August 2012. Lars Tiffany, Kenney’s head coach on the Brown men’s lacrosse team, spoke about Kenney's time at Brown and service to his country. The ceremony ended with a wreath-laying by University President Christine Paxson at Soldiers Arch to honor those who have served.
