The Annenberg Institute for School Reform at Brown University has been awarded a two-year, $600,000 Ford Foundation grant to document the implementation and results of the More and Better Learning Time (MBLT) initiative. MBLT is the foundation’s approach to increasing students’ engagement and improving their academic outcomes by expanding academic time and deepening learning opportunities in secondary schools located in high poverty communities in major U.S. cities. The Annenberg Institute will develop a multilevel indicator system to track the impact of the initiative at the student, school, and community levels, and will lead the effort to identify ongoing needs, supports, and strategic opportunities that will advance the MBLT agenda. The Annenberg Institute for School Reform is a national education policy research and reform support organization based at Brown University that focuses on improving conditions and outcomes for all students in urban K-12 public schools.
