Two faculty members of the Department of Africana Studies will share their research in Germany this summer. Tricia Rose, professor of Africana studies, has been appointed the 2012 Distinguished Denkplatz International Guest Professor at Bremen University in Germany. Her role will include teaching a seminar through Bremen University’s Institute of Postcolonial and Transcultural Studies and giving two public lectures in June and July. Greg Tate, visiting professor of Africana studies, has been invited to speak at two major events. The first, “Apocalypse Now (and Then),” which took place May 3-5, 2012, in Berlin, brought together cultural theoreticians and artists from around the world to examine how pop culture narrates the end of the world. On June 14-16, 2012, Tate will be a speaker at BIGSAS Festival of African and African Diasporic Literature at Universitat Bayreuth in Germany.
