The Brown University Police Honor Guard made its public debut at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Newport on March 17. The Honor Guard was created in January 2012 as a response to the Brown University Police’s need to have a unit that could represent the University at public events (parades and funerals), as well as at the University’s own events. It consists of eight campus police officers, who carry the colors and two campus security officers who act in support roles. The Honor Guard was created after the death of Brown University Police Sergeant (and retired East Providence Police Sergeant) Robert Enos in February of 2011.
