Next week Jabbar Bennett will expand his service at the University to the Division of Biology and Medicine. As of Nov. 1, his new roles will include associate dean for diversity, in BioMed, and director of the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs in The Warren Alpert Medical School. Bennett will continue as assistant dean for recruiting and professional development in Brown’s Graduate School. Within the Division of Biology and Medicine, Bennett will coordinate recruitment, retention, and advancement initiatives for faculty who are members of underrepresented groups. In the Graduate School, he continues to oversee recruitment, mentoring, and professional development for graduate students and postdoctoral appointees. Bennett is no stranger to the subject matter in BioMed. He earned a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences from Meharry Medical College.
