Twenty-nine of Brown's top graduating students in the performing and visual arts will be honored at the 16th annual Weston Fine Arts Awards ceremony on April 21, 2011, at the Perry and Marty Granoff Center for the Creative Arts. The Weston Fine Arts Awards recognizes meritorious achievements in the performing and visual arts by Brown seniors and graduate students. Weston Awards recipients are selected individually by each department. Each year, the awards ceremony highlights one department and features student performances. This year’s winners, representing the departments of music, literary arts, visual art, theatre arts and performance studies, modern culture and media, and dance will receive cash awards ranging from $500-$1,000.The Weston Fine Arts Awards are endowed by a bequest from William and Alethe Weston, 1943 and 1941 Brown graduates respectively, who were active as students in the performing and visual arts at Brown and in the Rhode Island arts community throughout their careers. The couple’s entire estate was left in care of a private trust to establish and fund the Weston Awards.
