<p>Brown University will honor members of the Brown and Rhode Island communities who have served the nation in the U.S. military during Veterans Day ceremonies, Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009. The ceremony will include remarks by Brown President Ruth J. Simmons and a keynote address by Sen. Jack Reed.</p>

PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] — Brown University will commemorate Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, with a procession and wreath-laying ceremony. Brown President Ruth J. Simmons, U.S. Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI) and others will speak at the ceremony.

The procession, led by the Providence College ROTC honor guard, Reed, and other community veterans, will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the flagpole on The College Green and travel to Lincoln Field. The speaking portion of the ceremony will include remarks by Simmons, a keynote address by Reed, and a presentation by group of Brown student veterans. A wreath-laying ceremony at Soldiers Arch will honor those who have served, followed by a reception on Lincoln Field.

This event is organized by the Brown University Student Veterans Society, the Office of the Dean of the College, the Office of Campus Life and Student Services.
