Joukowsky honored for ACOR service

Artemis A.W. Joukowsky, chancellor emeritus, has been recognized by the American Center of Oriental Research (ACOR) for his years of service to the organization. Joukowsky, who served as ACOR president from 1992 to 2011, was presented with a medal and citation during a ceremony July 20, 2012, at his home in Providence. The medal was to have been conferred at ACOR’s annual meeting in San Francisco in November 2011, but Joukowsky was unable to attend. The citation reads, in part, “He has inspired and supported ACOR for two decades in an ever-changing world, contributing to the institution’s strength, sophistication, respect and momentum.”
