PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] — Brown’s new 250th anniversary website — Imagine Brown 250+ — allows users to celebrate the University’s semiquincentenary from anywhere in the world.

With a prominent “Submit Your Story” button and running feeds from Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube, the site allows users — from the casual visitor to the Brown aficionado — to engage one another by sharing experiences.

The site also contains imagery and stories, lists celebration events, showcases interactive features, and is responsive, offering easy reading and navigation on mobile phones, desktops, and tablets.

The full website will appear in conjunction with the semiquincentenary’s Opening Celebration on March 7-8, 2014. It will present Brown’s history through photos, stories, videos, an interactive timeline, and more.

When the semiquincentenary ends in May 2015, Imagine Brown 250+ will serve as an historical archive.

Content themes for the site reflect Brown’s history, explore the Brown of today, and envision its future, especially with the University’s recent launch of its strategic plan, Building on Distinction: A New Plan for Brown.

Main themes are Research & Discovery, Enduring Contributions, Innovation in Education, Traditions Old & New, and The Brown Difference. New images, video, and text will be added throughout the 15-month-long anniversary celebration.

Imagine Brown 250+ is a destination for the Brown community and the public at large to commemorate the University’s founding in 1764; celebrate Brown’s history, culture, and global impact; and picture the institution’s future,” said Eve Ornstedt, executive director, Office of the 250th Anniversary.

“We’ve built it with the deliberate intention of engaging the global community. Wherever you are, you can connect, contribute, and be a part of this significant moment in Brown’s history.”

To create the site, Brown partnered with mStoner, a strategic communications company that works solely with education institutions. The project includes ongoing input from a range of stakeholders such as alumni, students, staff, and faculty. Brown partnered with mStoner to redesign brown.edu in 2010.
