Nicholas Kristof, the Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist for the New York Times, visited campus Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, to give an evening lecture on his new book Half the Sky: Turning Oppression Into Opportunity for Women Worldwide, which he co-authored with Sheryl WuDunn. Sponsored by the Brown Lecture Board, his visit also included a stop at the Watson Insitute to chat with one of James Der Derian’s classes. After class, Kristof spoke to Der Derian about his experiences reporting from some of the most dangerous places on Earth, his love of social media, and what it’s like to go on the road with George Clooney.
