Harvard Professor Stephen Jay Gould (right) meets with biologist Kenneth Miller at his Brown office in 1981. For six years before coming to Brown in 1980, Miller taught at Harvard and worked closely with Gould. In April 2011, Miller's tireless efforts to explain and defend evolution earned him the Stephen Jay Gould Prize from the Society for the Study of Evolution.
