Writers’ Group, a Swearer Center Community Program, received the Arc of Blackstone Valley's 2010 Special Recognition Award at a ceremony on March 16, 2011. For the last 20 years, student volunteers for the Writers’ Group have worked with developmentally disabled adults who are part of Blackstone Valley Industries, a division of the Arc. The Writers’ Group provides these adults with a forum to express themselves and develop their personal creativity and communicative skills through weekly writing workshops.
