Brown University’s Office of Government Relations and Community Affairs will host an opportunity fair Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, to facilitate contacts between general contractors and minority- or women-owned businesses in the building trades.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] — How can small minority- or women-owned building trades businesses make connections that might lead to subcontracting opportunities?

They can attend an opportunity fair this Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, at the Wyndham Garden Hotel, 220 India Street in Providence.

The fair, hosted by Brown University’s Office of Government Relations and Community Affairs, will assemble representatives from large general contracting companies as well as Facilities Management officials from the University for two and a half hours of intensive information exchange.

Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza will give opening remarks.

“Brown is committed to developing mutually beneficial relationships with local diversity suppliers, and this event can help make that happen,” said Katherine Silberman, community liaison at Brown. “At the fair, general contractors can provide information about themselves and their process for hiring subcontractors, and smaller companies can find firms and opportunities that are a good match for their particular expertise.”
