Part of a park donated by Andrew Carnegie to the people of Scotland has been named in honor of Vartan Gregorian, Brown’s 16th president, now president of the Carnegie Corporation of New York. Gregorian visited Pittencrieff Park, Dunfermline, Scotland, on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, to plant a tree for the celebration, using a spade once used by Carnegie himself. The ceremony dedicated “Vartan’s Way,” a pathway in Pittencrieff Park. Dunfermline was the birthplace of Andrew Carnegie.
