Julio Ortega, professor of Hispanic studies, was honored for his work at an event on Oct. 12, 2013, in Monterrey, Mexico. Hosted by Mexican universities Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey and Universidad Nacional de Nuevo León (UNL), the program included a presentation of the book Idas y Retornos de Una Aventura Literaria, which is dedicated to Ortega’s scholarly work on Latin American literature. Professors Liliana Weinberg of the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, Minerva Villarreal of UNL and Ines Sáenz of Tec de Monterrey discussed the book. Ortega also spoke, reflecting on on his friendship with Mexican writers Octavio Paz, Carlos Fuentes, and Rosario Castellanos, and his 40 years of working on Mexican literature.
