Brown has partnered with Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) in Barcelona, Spain, as part of the Brown Plus One program for students interested in international study. UPF Rector Josep Joan Moreso and Josep Ferrer Riba, vice rector for international relations, met with Brown President Christina Paxson on March 13, 2013, to sign the partnership agreement. Under the Brown Plus One program, Brown students spend one or two semesters of study at one of the partnering institutions abroad while completing their baccalaureate degree at Brown. They then return to the partner institution for an additional year of study abroad, earning a Master of Arts degree there. UPF is the fourth international partner in the Brown Plus One initiative, joining Trinity College Dublin, the University of Edinburgh, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
