[Brown University] — The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies and the Climate and Development Lab at Brown University present a conference on “Governing Climate Change: New Ideas and Latin American Leadership as Peru Prepares to Host the 2014 U.N. Climate Negotiations” on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Free and open to the public, the event will take place at the Watson Institute for International Studies, Joukowsky Forum, 111 Thayer St.

Discussions will focus on the upcoming U.N. Climate Summit 2014, which takes place in Peru in the fall. Experts on climate change policy and practice from Mexico, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, and other countries will come together for dialogue, learning, and productive diffusion of ideas among key actors involved in global environmental governance at this critical moment.

Participants include former Mexican President Felipe Calderón; former Chilean President Ricardo Lagos; Manuel Pulgar-Vidal, minister of the environment for Peru; and Sir David King, the United Kingdom foreign secretary's special representative for climate change.
