The Institute for Computational and Experimental Research in Mathematics (ICERM) presents a lecture by Ken Golden titled "Modeling the Melt." Golden, who is often described as the "Indiana Jones of Mathematics," will discuss how the precipitous loss of Arctic sea ice has far outpaced expert predictions. He will share how math is being used to improve these projections, and will take audience members through a video tour of an Antarctic expedition. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. The event begins at 6 p.m. in ICERM, 11th floor, 121 South Main St.
