Photos: Indigenous People’s Day at Brown

In an event organized by Native Americans at Brown, members of the University community and beyond joined on Monday afternoon to celebrate the inaugural Indigenous People’s Day at Brown.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] — Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, marked the first Indigenous People’s Day at Brown University, and students, faculty, staff and community members joined to commemorate the occasion on the University’s College Green in a celebration organized by Native Americans at Brown, a student group.

The gathering came one year after Native Americans at Brown demonstrated on the College Green and called from the University to formally recognize Indigenous People’s Day — and eight months after the Brown faculty voted to designate the second Monday in October as Indigenous People’s Day.
