The Department of Africana Studies will host the 2013 Callaloo Creative Writing Workshop from June 2-15, 2013. Sponsored annually by the literary quarterly Callaloo, the two-week highly selective workshop will bring together new and emerging writers from around the United States and several other countries including Zambia, Canada, England, and the Caribbean. Participants will come together daily for three-hour intensive group and individual instruction in the writing of poetry and fiction. Recently ranked 13th in Every Writer's Resource's Top 50 Literary Magazines, Callaloo is the premier journal of arts, letters, and cultures of the African Diaspora and publishes an engaging mixture of fiction, poetry, critical essays, interviews, drama, critical studies, and visual art.
