Brown’s Staff Advisory Council collected 1,404 pounds of food to be donated to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank during a recent campus drive. The collection, which surpassed last year’s total, was promoted by staff “building coordinators” across campus who sought donations from students, faculty, and staff. This year’s drive was extended by a week because of the Food Bank’s response following Hurricane Sandy. Leslie Strolla, food drive organizer and SAC member, said it was the extra time as well as the Brown community’s motivation to help those affected by Sandy that “prompted people to really step up and helped us reach our goal of exceeding last year’s drive.”
