Partha Chatterjee, professor of anthropology and of Middle Eastern, South Asian and African Studies at Columbia University, will talk about "Soccer and Collective Identity in Colonial Calcutta." Chatterjee has published several books including Nationalist Thought and the Colonial World (1986), The Nation and Its Fragments (1993), A Possible India (1999), A Princely Impostor (2002), The Politics of the Governed (2004), Lineages of Political Society (2011) and The Black Hole of Empire (2012).
