In this Commencement Forum, Sebastian Ruth '97, honorary degree candidate and founder of Community MusicWorks, will present anecdotes from the history of the fifteen-year-old organization. The Providence-based, nationally recognized organization has been a living experiment in how musicians can impact an urban community through performance, education, and community-building based out of a storefront. The educational goal of Community MusicWorks is cohesive with what American philosopher Maxine Greene calls "openings," where young people, thorugh experiences with the arts, conceive new possibilities for their lives and futures. This event begins at 1 p.m. in Perry and Marty Granoff Center for the Creative Arts, Martinos Auditorium. http://brown.edu/about/commencement/about/commencement-reunion-forums
