The John Carter Brown Library presents "Voyage to the Islands: Hans Sloane, Slavery and Scientific Travel in the Caribbean." This exhibition uses the history of Hans Sloane’s voyage to Jamaica in 1687 to 1689 to raise new questions about the intersection of science and slavery in the early modern Atlantic world. Guest curator James Delbourgo will give a lecture on "Animal Magic in Sloane's Jamaica," on May 3 at 5:30 p.m. in MacMillan Reading Room. This exhibition runs from May 1, 2012 to August 31, 2012. John Carter Brown Library is located on the Main Green. For more information, call 401-863-2725. http://www.brown.edu/Facilities/John_Carter_Brown_Library/
