Michael Eric Dyson, author of "Know What I Mean?" and Boyce Watkins, founder of YourBlackWorld.com, will present the next Janus Lecture on the international phenomena that is hip hop music. Although widely accepted and an integral part of the contemporary cultural landscape, hip hop remains a controversial and criticized art form for its content. The lecturers will discuss to what extent artists should be held accountable for their words and imagery, offering their differing viewpoints in an interactive and engaging debate. This event begins at 4 p.m. in Salomon Center for Teaching, De Ciccio Family Auditorium, Main Green. http://www.brown.edu/Departments/Political_Theory_Project/janus/events/lectures/hip_hop_should_artists_be_accountable_for_their_words
