Jennifer Grayson, a senior from from Montclair, N.J., has won a Gates–Cambridge scholarship to pursue a Master of Philosophy degree in medieval Hebrew at the University of Cambridge. A double concentrator in history and late antique cultures, Grayson has studied Spanish, Arabic, Biblical Hebrew, and German while at Brown. As a Gates scholar at Cambridge, she will focus on Jewish intellectual life in 10th-century Baghdad, a time when Jewish scholars were productively engaged with the surrounding Islamic culture. Founded by Bill and Melinda Gates, the Gates-Cambridge scholarships support students from all over the world for graduate degrees at Cambridge.
